ABOUT
Digital Black Dance Ecologies is an interdisciplinary network that foregrounds Africanist dance across digital performance art. Our focus is on centring the embodied epistemologies of digital Black dance across the intersections of social and environmental injustice. In this, we aim to build knowledge across Black geographies and disciplines.
Through a range of activities, including, exploratory labs, artistic commissions, mentoring, workshops, reading groups, and public events we support experimental creativity and research in digital realms. We aim to facilitate community and foster collaboration among Black artists and researchers within and beyond the field.
Digital Black Dance Ecologies is led by Dr Tia-Monique Uzor as the Principal Investigator. The partners and collaborating organisations include Serendipity Institute for Black Arts and Heritage, The Royal Geographical Society, Birmingham Open Media and Barnard College, Columbia University. The network is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AH/Y002326/1, 2023-2025)
